About Villány
Villány is located in the southern part of the country, near the Croatian border, and is famous for its excellent red wines, particularly made from Bordeaux varieties of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Portugieser grape varieties.
Villány is known for its sub-Mediterranean climate and is the warmest region west of the Danube. Thus, it is not surprising that Villány is the home of big bold reds and is one of Hungary’s most popular red wine regions, boasting some of the most expensive reds in the country.
The Villány wine region has a long history of winemaking, dating back centuries. Its terroir, characterized by hilly terrain and a favorable climate, provides ideal conditions for grape cultivation. Visitors to the region can explore numerous wineries, taste a variety of wines, and enjoy the picturesque vineyard landscapes.
