Description

We derive asymptotic expansions of the Gaussian compound mean $M \otimes_g N$ and the Archimedean compound mean $M \otimes_a N$, where $M$ and $N$ are arbitrary non-symmetric means which possess asymptotic expansions in terms of negative powers. We present applications to some classical means, such as neo-Pythagorean means, and analyze the existence of means with the same Gaussian and Archimedean compounds.
